Easter Weekend 2016

Per usual, Dan and I were all over the place for the holiday! Luckily, we both had Good Friday off work and headed straight out to Fredericksburg to stay in the cabin with Dan’s immediate family. Got to love a road trip with bluebonnets and indian paintbrushes framing the pavement.

Friday was spent enjoying wine, playing with the kiddos, and listening to music at Luckenbach. We did wine tasting at 2 of the newer Wineries on the 290 block- Kuhlmans (which included a food pairing!) and Barons Creek. Both were excellent. And hanging out at Luckenbach has got to be one of the most relaxing & fun things in Texas- the picker’s circle is always a treat! The last time Dan & I were there, they even let him join in for a song 🙂 After stuffing my face with my absolute favorite burger at Alamo Springs, we ended the night with s’mores, which was just perfect. Even though Dan got marshmallows all up in his beard.

Saturday, we hung out on a boat on Town Lake (Lady Bird Lake?) in Austin with some of my college friends. It started out pretty overcast, but the sun came up and it ended up being a knock out day. Gah, my love for Austin will never fade. Seriously.

Sunday was spent in Waco celebrating Easter with Dan’s extended family- made for a huge crew at church that morning. Lots of food, egg hunting, bluebonnets, and cacarones (AKA lots of confetti stuck in your hair and shirt).

November Festivities

Seeing as we are half way through December, this post is way delayed. But oh well. November was so good!!! With the remodel finally wrapping up, we were able to get some serious friends and relaxation time in. It was like we were on a remodel hangover and the first weekend we could take a break, we did. And did nothing house related! Woo! But some other so good bits from the month…

I turned 26! We celebrated in Austin at Jacoby’s (East Austin has gotten way too cool) with Chels & Katie and our boys (men?). LOVE quality time as grownups with our husbands, who I think are all pretty darn awesome…. note how much we match our significant others. It’s kind of creepy and maybe narcissistic? But fun 🙂

We hosted our first tailgate!! In true Callie form, I stressed out about the details while Dan was beyond chill (and very last minute) about all of it. It was a pretty cruddy day, but the rained cleared up by the time the tailgate started and we found a great spot on campus! Everyone brought treats & drinks and we grilled up some burgers & dogs. Such a fun time. And we crushed KU!

We had a Novemberfest party. Dan & I are trying to make an Oktoberfest party an annual thing for us, but due to the state of our house in October, we pushed it back a month. Dan brewed an Oktoberfest beer that was great and I cooked up some goodies. Tara came into town and was a god send in helping get everything ready. Phew. Too bad I took almost zero pictures… I did get a few of some of the food. So there’s that. This mulled wine was a huge hit! As well as this pumpkin spice trifle. And both were very easy 🙂 We also did brats and pretzels with beer cheese dip.

We checked out the new movie theater in town, where we had delicious food, a pillow, blanket, and recliners. Best way to see a movie!

We went to the park & had a picnic- the weather is good! Finally!!!! (Although it was 82 and humid beyond all December reason this weekend, so that was maybe premature. Unfortunately.)

I cannot believe Christmas is NEXT WEEK!! Meanwhile, I’ll be in a t-shirt. Thanks Houston.

Austin City Limits 2015

Just a few pictures from our Austin City Limits weekend last month! We missed Friday because I had to work late, but we made up for it by arriving early and staying to the end on Saturday and Sunday. I really love the earlier shows because the artists tend to be awesome but the stages are muchhh less crowded. My favorite of the whole weekend was a 12:00 show on Sunday, Marian Hill. Dan and I both adore the duo and can’t stop listening. They’ve known each other since middle school 🙂 We also really enjoyed Father John Misty, Lord Huron (can’t believe it, but our 3rd time seeing them!), Hozier, and Florence + the Machine (who is such a blast on stage- she skipped around the whole time!).

Dan had been to ACL 8 or 9 times in a row up until ’13 so I’m glad we made it back to Austin this year! We didn’t even try to get close to the stages and lounged around most of the weekend with Dan’s sister and it was perfect. Much different experience than the ACL’s of college years 🙂 We also got to stay with excellent hosts and had lots of fun with them. All around an A+ weekend.
